Senior Shop & Ride Share Operations
Our long-term vision is to build an Intelligent Transportation Operations System that uses today’s technology to coordinate transportation requests from beginning to end. The system will help automate scheduling, driver matching, notifications, ride monitoring, reporting, and communication while dedicated staff, volunteers, and drivers remain at the center of every ride.
How the Intelligent Transportation Operations System Works
Every transportation request will move through one coordinated process designed to connect riders, community partners, drivers, volunteers, vehicles, and staff. Requests may be submitted online, by phone, or through an approved community partner.
|
The system will help organize trip details, review service and accessibility needs, identify available transportation resources, and support driver assignment.
Through a dedicated driver app, drivers and volunteers will be able to receive trip assignments, confirm availability, view pickup and drop-off details, receive notifications and route information, update ride status, and communicate with operations staff throughout the trip. The system will also monitor ride progress, document completion, and collect information for follow-up and reporting. Staff and trained volunteers will oversee the process, provide judgment and personal support, and step in whenever human assistance is needed. |
Community Partner Referrals
Cadillac Inc. Senior Shop & Ride Share is being developed to strengthen—not replace—the transportation services already available throughout our community.
Our long-term vision is to build an Intelligent Transportation Operations System that allows participating community partners—including hospitals, healthcare providers, senior centers, churches, and community agencies—to coordinate transportation requests directly through our operations platform. As the network develops, we also hope to create direct coordination pathways with established transportation and support organizations such as Pioneer Resources, MATS, AgeWell Services, and Disability Network West Michigan. These organizations have provided valuable assessment input and expressed interest in continued collaboration as we work to strengthen transportation access across Muskegon County.
When a transportation need cannot be accommodated because of scheduling, service area, vehicle availability, or other limitations, our goal is to help fill those gaps whenever possible. Transportation requests can flow into our coordinated operations system, where they are reviewed, scheduled, assigned, monitored, and followed through completion.
By working together, we can create a stronger, more connected transportation network that improves communication, reduces barriers, and helps ensure more seniors and individuals with mobility challenges receive the transportation support they need.
